Conversation starter. Start light and fun conversation with your group about the series topic.

  • Talk about a time in your life when you experienced a sense of joy from something taking place.

Contemplate. Ask questions to get your group thinking about these principles.

  • Read Philippians 1:3-5, under key scriptures, Paul was in prison when he wrote that. How do you think he was able to be joyful in that situation?
  • Grab your Bible or cell phone and read with your group Luke 10:38-42. Are you more like Martha or Mary? Who is it better to be like?

Contribute. Ask questions that create personal openness in your group.

  • Read the rest of the verses and the TIME acronym. Are there some daily ways you can grow in your joy with Jesus? What’s stopping you?
  • What are some of the distractions keeping you from the joy found in Jesus?

Cry out to God. Pray intensely for your group on the topic.

Lord, please show us what’s distracting us from spending time with you. Through the power of the Holy Spirit within us Lord, help us to confess these things to you. Give us the power to turn to you and spend time with you to increase our joy in You. In your precious name, we pray Jesus, Amen.

Commit to change. What’s a new area to grow with the Lord?
